Elba's 6 Month Update

6 Months Old

I am going to just continue to say how much I enjoy every new month since Elba has become our third wheel. She is so much more giggly this month and excited. She is interactive and aware. She cuddles and also pushes away. When she wants something, we are going to hear about it, when she doesn't want something...she lets us know. She is becoming her own person every single day. She is incredibly aggressive and tough, if she bumps her head Zack and I are always cringing waiting for the meltdown but it never happens...she hardly every cries if she bumps her head or hurts herself, she is so tough! She will however cry if she is not being held by either Zack or myself if she is having a rough teething day. She will cry because her teeth that have been coming in since she was 3 months old have yet to break through. Teething has NOT been our favorite! I have loved the face grabbing and the affection though. She is so much  more aware of us and we grow more important to her each day. It is endearing when she reaches for us, when her cry changes to a giggle, when she makes her high pitched squeaks/shouts, and when she just wants to cuddle. I am loving this age. Not to say that it doesn't come with its battles, but aside from the craziness this has really been such a rewarding age. I never knew how much I could love someone else. It is a different kind of love & it is amazing!

Mama's Favorite Things

Watching her experience new things

Her little gasps when the wind blows

How she grabs my face and kisses me

When she attacks my face and giggles

When she grabs my hair and screams with excitement

When she hears Zack on the phone and reaches for the phone

I love when we are FaceTiming with Zack and she gets super excited

Watching her experience new foods

I love when she kicks, reaches, and giggles when she watches me put on the ergo

I love her high pitched squeaks

When she laughs at Zack and I

How she could be content all day if she was just outside

I love how she attacks my hands to teeth like a little monster

I love her smiles

Everything

Every month is more rewarding

Every single day is more exciting

I love everything about this girl

Elba's Quirks

Scratches

Growls...full on monster growls

Grabs faces for kisses

Grabs faces for attacking

Always wants to be outside

Does not like being set down too much recently

Loves to be scared (she's dark)

Loves when we hide and pop out at her

Loves when we blow on her belly or neck

Attacks our limbs for teething purposes

Makes high pitched squeaking noises

Makes gasping noises when she is excited

Makes gasping noises to be funny and then continues to do it if we copy her

Loves the ergo carrier, she would prefer to be carried in it all day

Starting to get upset if we take something from her that she wanted

All sorts of aggressive

Throws things

Wants everything- reaches, grabs and steals

Super giggly- when she wants to be

Doesn't like when I have a towel on my head--scares her but cracks me up

Loves gnawing on leather, she has petrified one of her FP moccasins from sucking on it to death. She keeps trying to get her hands on my Lily Jade Diaper bag...not gonna happen!

Has decided she doesn't like to bottle feed anymore. KILLING ME. We are getting her back into it though!

Loves watching videos of herself...Elba loves Elba.

Loving sitting up on her own

Wants everything in her mouth

Loves looking around on our walks

She will kick, fling her arms around, and smiles when she sees the ergo carrier come out, she knows we are going for a walk outside! Her favorite.

Likes pulling leaves off of trees and bushes

When she doesn't want to be in the car seat she starts scratching and doing sit ups as if she is going to claw her way out

Starting to learn how to manipulate, we will be changing that haha

Loves FaceTiming with Daddy, makes her smile immediately

When she hears Daddy on the phone she tries grabbing the phone from me

Size (Diapers, Onesies, Etc.): Diapers size 3; Onesies 6-9 months; Shirts 6-12 months; Leggings 6-12 months & some 3 month ones; 3-6 month, 6 month and 9 month jammies!

Eyes: Olive green & gray/ hazel

Hair: Her hair is getting much longer! Especially on top and in the back! Her new hair is coming in much thicker too! It has lightened up so much since she was born. When she was born it was pitch black and now it is the same color as Zack's and mine.

Sleeping: Getting better. When she started teething she back tracked completely on our great sleep schedule. But things are looking up again, slowly but surely!

Eating: She isn't too into purees. She loves eating whatever I am eating off of my finger. She doesn't like avocado unless it is on my finger. I made sweet potato in my Vitamix and she seems to like that much better than bananas. She loves blueberry things. She loves experimenting with foods, but no purees that she continues to open her mouth for in excitement. We are getting there though. This past week has shown more promise!

Milestones:
  • Army crawling/ kinda crawling
  • Getting up on all 4's to crawl
  • Rolls like crazy
  • Experimenting with solids every day
  • Laughing
  • Copying/mimicking
  • Sitting up on her own
  • Walking around like a crazy when I hold her hands
  • Standing on her own if she is holding on to the couch or something else for a few moments
  • Dropped the swaddle cold turkey around 5 months when she kept working her way out

What We've Been Up To Lately in Pictures

There hasn't been too much going on over the past week other than a few things here and there. We have mostly just been working and cleaning and more house hopping between families, so here are just a few pictures I have gathered together to share with you guys!

We went on a hike earlier this weekend with Kellie and Ryder up to the water tower near Zack's parents house. It was hot and I think Oak might've been the only one struggling towards the end. It really wasn't a long hike and I didn't burn many calories, but it was fun getting out and walking with the fam bam.

After a long walk with the pup early in the morning Zack and I picked up some Banzai Bowls for breakfast one morning this week, so freaking good.

They have options of a large and a small and the small was a struggle to finish! So much fruit, but so so good!

Baby and I definitely deserved that Banzai Bowl!

My brother gets his license in August, even though he turned 16 on the 30th, just how the DMV works when signing up I guess. I have never driven with him before and I was terrified as we were leaving the driveway at my mom's house. He was intentionally trying to scare me too haha, but I have to say he is an extremely good driver and very cautious, you're all safe! We went out to lunch just him and I for his birthday before he had a basketball game up in Aliso that I went to with my mom. We met the whole family (minus the youngest brother who was at the beach) at a mexican restaurant in San Clemente to celebrate his 16th. He thought he was just gonna have a low key night with his girlfriend but his friends set up a surprise party that we were all in on at my moms.

Yes, they all chose to dress up as sailors, not a clue why. It was so funny when my brother was out with his girlfriend for ice cream as she was distracting him while we all set up all the boys walked in with decorations and cake and streamers, it was so funny! They all got into the decorations and were carefully placing the balloons...it was adorable. Jake (my brother) was definitely surprised and had no clue this was coming, so cute!

More morning workouts!!!

My morning workouts are the reason why I can indulge every now and then ;). Zack and I had a mini date night had some dinner and watched the sun set and grabbed some little ice creams. I am more of a sorbet, bubble gum, cotton candy person when it comes to ice cream, but I was really craving the peanut butter chocolate ice cream so I thought I would deviate.

That's it for now! Just getting ready for the 4th and I will be sure to post pictures on here afterwards!!!

Everyone enjoy their 4th and be safe!

XOXO

What We Have Been Up To

I have been neglecting the blog a bit this week but that is because we are in the process of moving. I think I mentioned that in the last post, but I just wanted to clarify once more. Right now we have been moving up all of our stuff to our parents house as we are in the process of looking for a place. We got out of our lease down here in San Diego a month early and our final day is tomorrow. So we drove down here early this morning from San Clemente and Zack went to work to train the new lab researcher for a few hours while I am at our studio cleaning up the place! I am avoiding anything with heavy chemicals so I have had a magic eraser in hand for the past two hours and let me tell you...these baseboards look amazing haha. We are just going to clean up everything today and get it spotless and then do the final walk through with our landlord tomorrow and then we are done and up in San Clemente! I have been absent from the blog for a while due to moving and birthdays and just a crazy hectic week!

This is my day today just cleaning up, renting a carpet cleaner, and scrubbing away! I will be posting a 14 week pregnancy update hopefully tomorrow, but it will likely be on the day that I actually turn 15 weeks... :(

I can't wait for things to go back to normal! Moving is a pain and it sucks up all of your time!

13 Weeks Pregnant Picture

This week has been a hectic week. We are in the process of moving so we have had very little time on our hands and somehow this week got away from me and I was not able to take a proper 13 week pregnancy picture with the updates. I do think I feel smaller this week, maybe less water retention.

Here are some mirror photos after first waking up.  I feel the need to explain the messy background (for the 4th time)...there are boxes in the background, a missing bedskirt, & everything under the bed is being pulled out because we are moving back up to Orange County.

These pictures were taken at 13 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, again. I took these shortly after waking up so the bump is looking quite small, which I do not mind considering it grows about 3x that throughout the day.

My two lines on the sides of my abs are slowly dissipating and my obliques are fading away as well...I still get surprised every morning when I am like, whose body is this?! Zack always has to remind me...hey crazy you're pregnant. I am getting so excited for a rounded bump!

How far along: I am 13 weeks and 6 days along in these pictures!

Symptoms: Not getting that tired until around 9PM. This is a big difference compared to the 5PM bedtime I was having in the first trimester. I am feeling lightheaded if I do not eat often. I had an entire week without any morning sickness and now I have thrown up 5 times and never threw up in the first trimester...I think it is because I am not eating as often because I haven't been as hungry as I was in the first trimester.

Cravings:  I am definitely loving citrus fruits and if someone mentions steak I am all in...but I don't have cravings on my own. Just if something is mentioned for a meal it will either sound delicious and I will have to have it or it will sound awful and I will hate whoever suggested it. I did have a moment either this week or last where Zack and I were done packing up our place for the night and we wanted to unwind with some "Orange is the New Black" on the couch and I couldn't do it without popcorn. So we had to go to the store and get popcorn so I could dip it in mustard (not abnormal, I did it before pregnancy).

Aversions: I am trying to come around to cooking my own meat. I came as far as wandering over to the meat section in the grocery store and picked out thin chicken breasts. They are currently in the fridge waiting for me to either come around and cook them up or freeze them for a later day. I haven't had many aversions this week or last week so that's good!

Wedding rings: On

Sleep: I don't think I took a single nap this week, YAY MORE ENERGY!

Excited for: Confirming the gender of our little one in June. We know the sex but we are waiting to confirm it!

Missing: Working out hard, with summer coming up I am missing feeling tight and toned...but nothing else really, I am getting excited for what is to come! I feel like everything is going so quickly now that I just want to cherish it all.

Movement: None

Dr. update: We see him in June to confirm the gender!

Exercise: I am still doing my best to be active everyday. Like I have said, it isn't that hard to just get out there and walk when you have a massive dog that is staring at you remind you it is time for a walk haha. I will still do light weights and go to the gym and try to incorporate a HIIT workout. Doctor still wants my heart rate around 150BPM so it is limiting, but being active is still one of my priorities.

Well that's that for week 13...I am already into week 14 so there should be an update for that soon and some other posts in the mean time. I have just not been posting as much because we have been so busy packing up our place and taking trips to and from San Clemente to bring everything up there. We should be out of our place in June so that's what the next few weeks look like for us!

I Love You MOM

Happy Mother's Day

To all of you mommies I just wanted to wish you a Happy Mother's Day (yesterday)!

I can't wait until next year when I get to have my little one with me and everyone celebrating all of the great mommies out there.

Yesterday morning Zack and I drove up to San Clemente to celebrate our Mom's and his dad's birthday. We went to Oak Creek in Irvine, which is where my Mom's boyfriend, Jason, works. It is a beautiful golf-course restaurant and because it was such a beautiful day we were outside on the patio. We had My mom, sister, two brothers, brother's girlfriend, myself, Zack, his mom and dad, his sister and nephew. It was a really yummy buffet with breakfast, lunch, and dessert. We ate and did presents there! We ended up watching a movie later on too.

Here are just a few of the million pictures we took when we were there, Zack's family took a few after us!

My mom and I laughing because she went in for a cute baby bump touching picture and ended up grabbing my boob instead.

My mom and I again. There was no good lighting here at this time of day as you can see the struggle in some of our faces, haha.

Lovin' on my Mom.

She is the best!

Zack and I snuck a picture for my almost first Mother's Day! Can't wait to meet you little baby, we love you!

Believe it or not, in this picture the majority of us are smiling, and out of about 11 pictures of this same stance we got one where we were all looking in the relatively same direction. That's what you get for having 4 kids mom! Messy pictures and little boy attitudes haha. My youngest brother in the black didn't change his facial expression once for any of these family shots....I think he may have opened his a little more in one of them haha little brat. But this is my younger sister and my younger brothers taking a picture with our beautiful mom on mother's day. We all love you very much!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and loved on your Mommies a little extra, I am sure I am going to understand the "you deserve it" phrase later down the road when my kids are making me want to pull my hair out, but for now I will just say it and hope it carries some weight! I hope all you mommies enjoyed your day because you deserve it!

9 Weeks Pregnant Picture

9 Weeks Pregnant Update

** Just so we are clear. This was at the end of the day, after what I am sure was my maximum sodium intake for the day and lack of water in this blazing heat we have been experiencing...so excuse the bloating. I know I am going to be showing early, but I don't know how accurate this image is this week  haha.  I really need to start taking these pictures in the morning and not the afternoon like I have been**

Moving on....

How far along: Technically I am 10 weeks along right now, but this is a 9 week update. I like to wait until the end of each week for a picture and for the updates so that way everything is accurate. So many of my cravings and moods change in the middle of the week that this is the best way to summarize everything.

Symptoms: I haven't been that nauseas this week. I think it is because I get up pretty early for school during the week and I like to eat immediately. On the weekends I sleep in a little longer and by the time I wake up I already feel super sick because I don't have any food in my system. Uhm, my digestive system isn't moving as quickly as I would like it to....My boobs feel even bigger than they normally are and I definitely need to invest in a few new bras. I have just been living in sports bras for the time being.

Cravings:  I am still only craving things that I don't have at home. I do not want to make myself a meal. It is the weirdest thing...I get sick to my stomach thinking about preparing a meal. It is completely unlike me because I cook 3 meals a day every day of the week and now I can't stand to be in the kitchen.

Aversions: Not too bad this week. I don't know what it is about zucchini, but I am traumatized by it. I find myself thinking about it during the day just to see if I am still grossed out by it...I get sick to my stomach and I am just like, yep...yep it's still gross. I don't know why I am so grossed out by some foods right now. Ones that I don't even have that often as well. I can't even fathom making my own chicken right now. I usually like to have chicken in a few dishes a week for protein and just the thought of making my own chicken gets me sick to my stomach. I have a disgusted face just typing this.

Wedding rings: On

Sleep: I love it. It's my favorite thing to do. I take naps before bed, I wake up on the weekend and then lay in bed...it is the only thing I like to do right now. I feel like I can't get enough of it. However, it is extremely inconvenient considering finals week is next week (woo then I graduate).

Excited for: Graduation, definitely. Our next doctors appointment in about 2 weeks I am excited for as well. I can't wait to see the little friend's hands and feet and nose. Ahhh just so excited.

Missing: Working out hard, feeling energetic, and having a normal appetite.

Movement: None

Dr. update: One more day of the progesterone suppositories and I am done with them. No doctor update for a week and a half or so, until our next appointment. As of right now things are still looking good!

Exercise: As much as I can. I go to Zack's gym at work and I get the bike and eliptical in for the day. Our puppy love also gets a walk every night so that ranges from 30 minutes to an hour  for each walk. I also do a lot of workouts at home and have been using the resistance band for squats instead of super heavy weights and I have been doing a lot of leg workouts and upper body workouts when I have enough energy.

I have been so busy these past few weeks that I haven't been posting consistently aside from these bump updates/weekly updates. Once Friday hits next week and I am done with college and finals forever I will be posting much more...I will be working on quite a few projects that I have planned this summer and want to include all of you.

It has been so hot here in Southern California this week, it makes me want summer here so badly! Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying the weather or looking forward to some better weather!

8 Weeks Pregnant Picture

8 Weeks Pregnant Update

How far along: Going to the doctor this week this past Monday I measured at 8 weeks and 4 days. He mentioned that we will go by this time frame until the 18 week anatomy scan and that we will be able to have a more accurate due date by then. So for now I am still due on Thanksgiving! So technically I am 9 weeks today, but I will be posting a 9 week update sometime in the following week.

Symptoms: Still nauseas every other morning or so. If I am nauseas in the morning then later on that same day I will get sick again....without fail. It has been pretty manageable and not nearly as bad as it was during week 6 and 7.

Cravings:  I am craving anything that I do not have to make. For some reason I am getting so grossed out opening my own cupboard and trying to figure out a meal. Everything is grossing me out. Everything. So no intense cravings.

Aversions: Pretty much anything that I have ever eaten or anything that I usually make for myself and Zack. When we were home for Easter I was starving and my mom offered me an Amy's which was just a Gluten Free Rice Dish that you can microwave and usually when I am home you can't go wrong with Amy's, they're easy and yummy...but this time I completely broke down and started crying and got really frustrated and asked her to not even show me the Amy's. Safe to say I don't want any Amy's Gluten Free microwave dishes. My poor mom and Zack dealt with a crazy that night haha.

Wedding rings: On

Sleep: I haven't been able to sleep as much as my body wants to these past few weeks. School has picked up quite a bit before finals and I have had tests and presentations every week that require all my attention when I get home from school. There hasn't been anytime for a nap and I badly want one. I just look forward to the weekends where I can come home and just fall asleep at 7PM after watching a Dexter on Netflix with Zack.

Excited for: Graduating on May 10th and then shortly after going in for our 12-13 week ultrasound where we can see the baby's hands and feet and everything. As of right now we are just excited that our doctor told us that we were basically in the safe zone even though we aren't at 12 weeks yet.

Missing: Having energy and motivation to do just about anything at all. I was told that I can now start working out normally again after I had some spotting at 6 weeks. I was told to take 2 weeks off and that was hard, but then again I don't think my body's level of energy would have let me do anything draining. I am missing eating like a normal person and not hating everything or getting grossed out by everything.

Movement: None

Dr. update: I am weaning off of the progesterone suppositories because he said everything is looking good. We saw the umbilical cord in the last ultrasound and that was pretty exciting. I can workout normally, he said to keep my heart rate below 150...so I can what? walk fast? I don't know about that....I think we are gonna have to compromise and come to some sort of agreement on what a work out actual is haha.

Exercise: Nothing other than walking the puppy love around the neighborhood with Zack every day. Spoiled pup gets a walk every single day, but really he just goes for the "kitty sightings", he is so intrigued by them. I have also been going up to Zack's work and using the gym there and just taking it easy on the elliptical every now and then. I stopped my HIIT workouts when I found out I was pregnant just in case, but I am going to slowly start incorporating a few a week along with some walks with the puppy around the neighborhood.

So that's the update for 8 weeks, I usually post my updates towards the end of each week so I will be doing the same for my 9 week one. Until then I will still be posting!

                                       Have a great night!

6 Weeks Pregnant Picture

This is obviously a little bit behind because I realized I never updated my post with my 6 week pregnancy picture as well and I thought I would add that today.  I will also be posting my 7 week in a bit!  But for now I wanted to make sure I didn't forget about week 6.

So, I still look like I am closer to 3 months pregnant because of my cysts.  I even think that a smaller one that was on my ovary still may have popped because my stomach is protruding a lot on the left and I have still had some pain that feels like cysts.  So for now, I am still bloated, filled with extra fluid and not being able to enjoy the last few weeks of feeling skinny :( haha.

My mid-section is still super swollen and filled with fluid from the cysts, so none of these pictures are super accurate of the growing bump. It doesn't help that I have absolutely no torso either....there is nowhere for the fluid to go but out!

It is still really uncomfortable and there is a lot of pressure outward on my stomach so I am not enjoying that too much, but other than that we are so excited for our little Jelly Belly.

So as it says in the picture above, for 6 weeks pregnant I was completely against vegetables, which was different from the previous week where that was all I wanted.  I was able to get back into loving some fruit again, except apples.  That changed this week though, but at 6 weeks I couldn't stand them.  Only strawberries and blueberries were sounding good...blueberries especially, now that I think about it.

At 6 weeks I started getting a little queazy in the mornings, but I would just pop a ginger candy and it would kind of ease my stomach queasiness.  Another thing that helped was never letting myself get too hungry.  The second I got too hungry I would feel extremely light headed and sick to my stomach.  I was going from completely fine to completely nauseas and starving...there was no in between.

That is pretty much it for the week 6 stuff that I didn't get a chance to mention in my previous post.  I will be posting a week 7 picture shortly so that we are all caught up!

Have a great day!

WE'RE PREGNANT!

EXCITING NEWS!!!

WE ARE PREGNANT!
The reason why we are sharing the news so early is because I don't think our families understood we were waiting to tell people haha.  My mom kept saying to me she couldn't stop, she was out of control and anyone that came into her boutique to shop and had a story...she had to top it with, my daughter's pregnant! We figured by the time 12 weeks rolled around and we were in the safe zone to tell people that everyone would've been like...."ummm, yeah we knew that already..." NO FUN! Going to my OB yesterday he assured me there are very slim chances of anything going wrong after you hear the baby's heartbeat.  The doctor wasn't in the office yesterday, but he had called me and said to go in for an ultrasound, that I was far enough along to hear the heartbeat.  Sure enough we did and the nurse immediately said, "yep! that's a strong heartbeat." I started crying and fell in love immediately. It makes it so much more real after hearing the heartbeat. Before it just felt like there was something inside of me making me hungry and irritable all the time, something that wanted to go to bed for the night at 2PM and something that loved vegetables last week and this week cannot stand the sight of them. A little gremlin! BUT after hearing the heartbeat, it was shocking, it felt like I was actually taking care of something and knowing that the little jelly bean's heart is just beating away in there is so exciting. However, we do know that in life things happen, if anything were to go wrong we have support from those who loves us. We told people early and announced it early, but there are people that miscarry at 13 weeks, a week after announcing their great news, some people miscarry in the third trimester, or some people miscarry right before they are about to announce. Things happen and there is no "right" time for every person to tell. For us, it was announcing it at close to 7 weeks. We are young, healthy, and all we can hope for is a healthy baby. Now our parents can feel free to blab to whoever and we can stop worrying about the "what if's" and actually get excited. Positive thinking!!!

Oak is gonna have to get used to a new brother or sister here really soon!

Just a little jelly bean!

SO EXCITING!

What We Did This Weekend

This weekend was not as hectic as last...no more driving back and forth from San Diego to San Clemente. We figured we would just stay down here this weekend and relax. Friday night we had a pretty early night, we went to the grocery store because I somehow had eaten all of our vegetables, that's all I have been wanting to eat lately. So we did some grocery shopping, I made Zack a Sun-dried tomato Chicken panini with avocado, basil, mayo, and mozzarella and I had some cabbage with chicken cooked in coconut oil and a teeny bit of soy sauce. I also bakes some brussels sprouts so we each had about 4 brussels sprouts.

Oh yeah, can't forget the sriracha, so good on cabbage! Love it. Sprinkle some green onions on top and you have yourself a bowl of yummy.

Saturday morning we wanted to get out and go do something, we didn't feel like taking Oak to dog beach so we drove to Balboa Park. It was nice because we went pretty early so there wasn't too many large crowds and we were able to walk around a good portion of it!

Some pictures of our little family at Balboa Park on Saturday! We came home, I had a salad for lunch and I wasn't feeling to hungry around dinner time so I just had some carrots and Zack went and got Chick-fil-A for himself.

Sunday morning (this morning) we woke up pretty early, relaxed, had breakfast in bed and then took Oak on a walk around the neighborhood for a while. Today we are gonna run to Home-Goods and pick out a few little things there and probably run a few errands while we are out. I will update you guys with any more pictures I may have later today.

In the mean time I always update my instagram so check that out if you want!
